Cholesterol and Nutrition
Cholesterol is the fat oxidation in the blood which is considered a threat to the whole body’s health. The increase in bad cholesterol in the blood puts the human life at risk, because it increases the proportion of exposure to heart attacks and blood clots.
Eat with caution:
- Low-fat cheese like ricotta cheese and mozzarella cheese, white cheese (feta cheese)
- Corn oil, sunflower oil
- Egg yolk (1-2 per week)
- Stewed fruit (Compote)
Avoid eating:
- Fatty meat, ducks, geese, pigeons, liver and kidneys, sausage, brain, roe, kebabs and meatballs (kofta)
- Full-fat milk, custard, cream, roumy, cheddar cheese and American cheese
- Animal margarine, butter, coconut and palm oils and cream
- Croissants, Danish, gateau, cakes, pies, pastries, fried potatoes and rice cooked in ghee
- Coconut, vegetables and fruit prepared using butter or cream
- Ice Cream, Toffee, Chocolate, Eastern and Western sweets
Eat:
- Fish, chicken, turkey without skin and rabbits
- Skimmed milk, low-fat yogurt, cottage cheese and low-fat cheese
- Olive oil, sesame oil and soy (taking into account not to heat it completely)
- Most types of brown bread and breadcrumbs, cornflakes, pasta (diet), all types of brown rice, potatoes with skins cooked in the oven and strained beans (foul medammes)
- Egg whites
- Fruits and vegetables fresh, frozen or dried
- Honey, juices, low-fat yogurt and green tea
